Leave Me Alone, God!

Sometimes I’d just like to yell at God, “Leave me alone!”

Without a show of hands, how many of you can understand what I’m saying?

I mean, there are times when I get sick of people. I’m frustrated with how things are going, and I’m wanting to be left alone – by everyone.

Including God!

But since He’s working all things for my good, and He’s promised to complete what He’s begun in me, I can’t escape His Presence.

He will NOT leave me alone.

He’ll remind me how much He’s already done in my life.

He’ll remind me of certain scriptures, certain promises, that He’s made to me in the past.

He’ll point to attitudes of my heart and actions that aren’t pleasing to Him; things which run crosswise with the faith He’s trying to build in me.

And I’ll sense Him say, to the deepest part of my soul, “Do you REALLY want to act or think that way? Don’t you remember what I’ve delivered you from?”

Maybe you’re not like me, but there are times I’d really like to tell the whole world off; even cheer them on as they run as fast as they can to the eternal lake of fire.

I’m sorry, but I’m simply being honest here.

It’s not that I hate people, or I don’t love God.

It’s just that sometimes I love myself far too much. I want my way, in my timing, on someone else’s dime. I become so wrapped up in my puny little world, the moment it’s interrupted I go to pieces.

THAT’S why He won’t leave me alone.

And honestly, I’m so thankful He doesn’t.

“The Lord will fulfill His purpose for me; Your steadfast love, O Lord, endures forever. Do not forsake the work of Your hands.” (Psalm 138:8 ESV)
